Heritage Day is sure to be “Good old fashioned fun for everyone”. The location is downtown Portville and there will be plenty to do for this one day festival. The Annual Portville Central School Alumni Banquet will be held the night before, with a street dance to follow at the American Legion.
At 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Portville Free Library with a Heritage Day Alumni 5K dice run, which will highlight some of Portville’s landmarks. Preregistration is required at a cost of $10 per person. Participants can then join the Kayak Regatta, which will begin at 10 a.m. on the Allegheny River. There are 20 single kayaks and 10 double kayaks available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Preregistration is required for a cost of $10 per person.
From 10am to 3pm there will be a Car Show with antique cars, street rods, and special interest categories. NO Entrance fee and trophies will be awarded.
At 11 a.m. there will be a tour of Portville Central School. All interested people should meet in front of the school at the main entrance near the clock, organizers said.
On July 10, activities will continue at 8 a.m. with a “Hike to the Bears Cave,” followed by a cowboy coffee and breakfast at the top of the hill. Preregistration is required at a cost of $10 per person. Activities will conclude during the Portville Central School ropes course event from 1 to 4 p.m. July 10 behind the school in Frair’s Forest. The event is open to the public and will provide an opportunity for alumni to see and experience the newest addition to their alma mater.
